Note: Regions 1 and 2 refer to higher and lower cost-of-living (COL) counties, as defined by the CA Department of Social Services. Exempt status is granted when adults are not required to participate in Welfare-to-Work (WTW) activities. When all family members are aided, grants are for a family of three; when a member is unaided, grants are for a family of two. Deep poverty is defined as having income below 50 percent of the federal poverty line.
