Fossil fuel industry money in election 2024
As of Aug. 21, 2024, the oil and gas industry had contributed twice as much money to Donald Trump's campaign as to Kamala Harris', but it had given 35 times more to outside groups supporting Trump than to those supporting Harris, nonprofit data tracker OpenSecrets reported.
Oil and gas industry contributions directly to campaigns are small compared to their total giving to political action committees, which are set up to promote the candidates.
