U.S. LGBTQ+ homeownership, by race/ethnicity

Based on over 1.5 million respondents in Household Pulse Surveys conducted August 2021 to September 2023

Chart showing homeownership rates in the U.S. are lower for people with queer and/or gender-marginalized identities and especially lower for those who are also Black or Latine. Homeownership rates were highest among white, straight and cisgender respondents at 77%. Among transgender or nonbinary respondents, the share was 36% for Black people and 44% for Latine people. Among lesbian, gay, bisexual or queer respondents, the share was 35% for Black people and 43% for Latine people.
