JULY HEAT WAVE vs. AUGUST HEAT WAVE

In Newark, the July heat wave lasted 8 days and the August heat wave lasted 7 days. While the average high temperature was virtually the same (95.1 in July and 95.0 in August), the average dew point readings were much higher in August, boosting the humidity and making it feel more oppressive.
