Three-day average of new COVID-19 cases by reported date

A three-day moving average provides a better picture of trends than daily case counts by smoothing artificial peaks and valleys sometimes caused by reporting delays, according to CDPHE. The three-day average is calculated by adding the number of new cases reported on a given day with the number of new cases on each of the two days preceding it, and dividing that number by 3.
