More Than $2 Million of Cuyahoga County’s Community Grants Went to Criminal Justice

Cuyahoga County received $240 million in federal relief money to make up for the revenue it lost because of the pandemic. One-quarter of that money — about $66 million — was divided between the county’s 11 elected council members to offer “community grants.” While the majority of the grants went to public infrastructure projects, some municipalities used the grants on police facilities, vehicles, and cameras.
