Average Raises | All Pastors v. All Staff | 2021-2022

In the aftermath of the pandemic, churches and salaries are experiencing a K-shaped recovery. Healthy churches gave an average raise of 4.82 and 4.5 percent to 46.1 percent of pastors and 32.4 percent of staff respectively. By comparison, struggling churches cut salaries by 10.48 and 11.44 percent for 2.4 percent of pastors and 0.4 percent of staff. When you combine increases, decreases, and non-changes all employees, the overall average change shrinks to 1.99 percent for pastors and 1.42 percent for staff. 

Out of 5,520 pastors and 1,266 staff, 132 pastors and 5 staff received a pay cut, 2,544 pastors and 410 staff received a raise, and 2,844 pastors and 851 staff reported no change in their compensation.
