Diabetes in Texas

Texas has a high rate of diabetes compared with most other states, with 11.1% of adults, or about 2.5 million, diagnosed in 2021. The national rate was 8.5%. The disease is especially prevalent in East Texas, which, like much of the state, has relatively high rates of residents without health insurance.
