H.R. 1 was initially approved by the U.S. House of Representatives on May 22 on a 215-214 vote; it was amended and approved by the U.S. Senate on July 1 on a 51-50 vote (with Vice President J.D. Vance breaking a 50-50 tie). The amended legislation received final approval by the House on July 3 on a 218-214 vote. President Trump signed the bill into law on July 4.
