As of early February, 128 of Pennsylvania's public school districts were signed up to participate in the state health department's free, school-based COVID-19 testing program. There are 500 school districts in Pennsylvania. The School District of Philadelphia is not eligible to participate in the state's program due to restrictions on federal funding. Philadelphia is among the 48 public school districts in the southeast participating in a different testing program.
