In the South, Black Americans experience less residential segregation in rural counties compared to cities

This map shows the dissimilarity index of each county, a way of measuring how evenly spread a population is over a the county. The index ranges from zero to one. The closer to one, the more severe the segregation. The dataset is filtered to exclude counties where less than 5% of the population is Black.
