The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention received 17% more rabies inquiries this summer than last summer. A total of 36 animals — only bats and skunks — have tested positive; however, other kinds of animals are also being tested.
The bar chart shows the number of rabies tests that have been done. Bats and skunks are the only ones that had tested positive. The "Other" category includes tests done on certain wild and domestic animals including but not limited to beavers, bobcats, deer, flying squirrels, monkeys, sheep, voles, zebras, foxes and horses.
