Trans teens who started conversion therapy one year apart from each other experienced similar increases in suicide attempts over the five years prior to initiating treatment (horizontal axis). The vertical axis shows differences in attempted suicide rates between the two groups, with a baseline year of -1. Starting conversion therapy (year zero) led to a 5.71 percentage point (16.0%) increase in attempting suicide relative to baseline, or a more conservative 4.9 percentage point (13.8%) relative to an average of years -5 through -1. The shaded areas indicate the 95% confidence interval.
