Overshadowed by the Northeast and shoehorned between the ever-steady Midwest and bustling South, the Mid-Atlantic would be easy to forget if not for Washington, DC – the nation’s seat of power where nearly every Fortune 500 firm maintains some presence. In this locale, Wharton heads the pack, with grads averaging $139,000 in base pay (which would rank 5th in the Northeast). Michigan Ross ranks as the runner-up, with a $32K pay improvement since 2015, no less. In fact, six of the seven highest-paid schools have seen base compensation rise by $15,000 or more during that same time period. Overall, Mid-Atlantic holds its own, pay-wise, with their Northeastern neighbors. Both regions produced ten schools where graduates earned $130,000 or more to start. However, Mid-Atlantic are less apt to open the checkbook, with just one school – Wharton, of course – that featured a grad who earned $200,000 in starting base.
