Natural World Heritage sites are under pressure worldwide

The International Union for Conservation of Nature examined the condition of 271 UNESCO World Heritage sites that are recognized at least in part for their natural features. Of those, 17 are of critical concern, 89 sites are labeled as significant concern, 119 are categorized as good with some concerns, and 45 are designated as in good condition.

IUCN designated one site as having insufficient data to evaluate its condition. Five sites of natural significance were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2025; they were not included in IUCN's evaluation.
