The darkest colors indicate the highest values, i.e. the countries with the greatest freedom of expression

The index is a combination of several indicators, which measure censorship of print, radio, and TV media, harassment of journalists, media self-censorship, freedom of discussion for men and women, and freedom in the academic and cultural fields.
