In the immediate aftermath of the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024, users on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, posted conspiracy theories. Two predominant theories were that the shooting was staged for Trump's advantage and that the attack was an inside job by members of the Secret Service.
