Below are the U.S. cities with the highest rates of homicides per 100,000 people according to 2024 data from the FBI's National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS).

Only cities with a population greater than 100,000 were included. Homicide represents murder and nonnegligent manslaughter. NIBRS may define murder and nonnegligent manslaughter differently from each city's local jurisdictional data. Many variables can impact city crime rates. Rates rounded to the nearest whole number.
