The four most polarizing states are the nation's largest

The share of U.S. adult citizens who have a favorable or unfavorable view of the following states, and how polarizing that state is compared with the others

Respondents who weren't sure of their opinions of a state are excluded.

Polarization is calculated by summing the "Love" and "Hate" shares, then subtracting the absolute-value difference between those two shares, then normalizing the scores on a scale of 100.
