Richest North Carolinians pay the lowest share of their income in state and local taxes. Chart shows that as incomes increase the share of income paid in state and local taxes decreases. The lowest income 20% of North Carolinians pay 10.5 percent of their income in state and local taxes, while the richest 1% pay 6%.
