Climate misperceptions remain high in parts of Southeast Asia

Southeast Asians were more likely than the global average to endorse several climate “misperceptions,” based on Ipsos’ People and Climate Change 2025 survey of 32 countries. Indonesia stands out, with 80% saying their country is being asked to “sacrifice too much” to tackle climate change, a view Ipsos has ranked No. 1 globally since 2023. It ranks near the top on other skeptical statements. Thailand also ranks high globally on multiple items, ranking first 1 in agreeing that restricting fossil fuels would harm the world economy more than warming would.
