Hate crimes continue to rise in 2022
Reported hate crimes rose 7% between 2021 and 2022, FBI data shows. Crimes against the Jewish community, and those targeting gender identity and sexual orientation, had some of the biggest increases. Anti-Asian incidents declined sharply. Anti-Black crimes, still the most common category, accounted for nearly a third of incidents.

Hate crime against Jewish community saw the biggest increase, from 824 to 1,124 incidents, a 36% increase. Hate crime against the Asian community decreased by 34%, from 753 incidents to 499.
