This map shows holiday traffic fatality rates across all 50 U.S. states, using the latest five years of national crash data. It illustrates how risk levels vary by region, with rural Western and Southern states having the highest rates, while states in the Northeast are generally much safer.

A study by The Millar Law Firm, based on NHTSA Fatality Analysis Reporting System data from 2018 to 2022 and published through ValuePenguin’s analysis, shows fatality rates as holiday-period deaths per 100,000 residents.
