What Stayed On Trend

If inflation had stayed in the range of a 2% annual increase, in line with the Federal Reserve's target, consumer prices would have risen an average of 5.5% since February 2020. A few items stayed close to that trend despite all the upheavals since the pandemic struck, according to the Consumer Price Index, one of the government's official measures of inflation.
