Economic Insecurity among single older Latino Americans

Nationally, 72% of single Latinos 65 and older have incomes below what they need to live without help in their current counties, based on the Elder Index. In comparison, 47% of white seniors are below the Elder Index line. The map shows percentages of Latino seniors below the line.

Data for 2019. The index reflects a baseline reading of the financial stress facing older adults. It does not consider family financial support or government and charitable support beyond Social Security payments.
