Maternal Mortality Rate by Race

The death rate per 100,000 births increased each year for Black, Hispanic and white women. However, the rate of death for Black women was, and has remained, over twice the death rate of other races.

The data shows the rate of deaths per births for Black women is more than two times than the rate for all races.
Maternal mortality rates are per 100,000 live births, based on data from the National Vital Statistics System, Natality and Mortality.
