The Biggest Tourist Trap in Each of Australia’s 10 Largest Cities

Sydney’s Bondi Beach scores more than three times higher than any other city’s top trap, while Adelaide and Canberra’s worst offenders score below 2 per 1,000.

Score = (“tourist trap” reviews + “overrated” reviews) ÷ total reviews × 1,000. Covers the 15 most-reviewed attractions in each of Australia’s 10 largest cities (ABS, 2025); only attractions with at least 200 reviews were ranked. Some cities, including Newcastle and the Central Coast, have low review numbers, so their results are based on a small number of reviews. Data collected 7–8 October 2026.
