Health Care Sector Has Long Relied on H-1B Visas

Federal officials approved about 19,000 H-1B applications in the health care and social assistance sector during the 2025 federal fiscal year, which ended in September.

Note: "New" applications represent workers approved for an H-1B visa for the first time, including workers already here on a different visa, and workers taking on a new concurrent job with a different employer. "Renewal" applications represent workers who already had an H-1B visa but renewed or changed it, or changed employers.
