GSS Mean: Extent to Which Educational Experience at Chipola Helped AA Degree Graduates Acquire College-Level General Education Competencies
This grouped bar chart displays AA degree graduates' perceptions of how well their Chipola education helped them acquire college-level general education competencies across five areas for academic years 2022-23 and 2023-24, measured on a 5-point scale where 5 = very much and 1 = none.
Graduate perceptions remain consistently high across both years and all five competencies, ranging from 4.05 to 4.38 on the 5-point scale. Four of five areas show improvement from 2022-23 to 2023-24: "Explore the nature of science" increases from 4.05 to 4.18, "Demonstrate basic mathematical skills" rises from 4.32 to 4.34, "Comprehend & articulate effectively in English" improves from 4.33 to 4.38, and "Interpret, evaluate & appreciate works of human culture" increases from 4.17 to 4.22. Only "Evaluate societal & ethical issues" shows a slight decline from 4.14 to 4.10. English communication competencies receive the highest ratings in both years (4.33 and 4.38), while science exploration shows the largest year-over-year improvement (0.13 points). The consistently high ratings above 4.0 indicate strong graduate satisfaction with their general education preparation. This measure was discontinued in 2024-25 due to the college's transition to new survey software.
