General Assembly weighs new U.S. House district lines
The boundaries under consideration vary slightly from a map recommended by the Governor’s Redistricting Advisory Commission on Jan. 20.
A map showing proposed changes to Maryland’s congressional district boundaries, according to a bill introduced in the Maryland General Assembly. The proposal was originally recommended by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore’s redistricting advisory commission in a private vote on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
This version of the new districts reflects changes made when drafting the legislation that would put the new maps into effect, to more evenly balance the districts among metrics including population.
The new map would significantly redraw the Eastern Shore-based 1st Congressional District, currently represented by Republican Andy Harris, stretching it across the Chesapeake Bay to sweep in liberal and purple areas of Anne Arundel and Howard counties.
