Values show the average change in total utility bills for customers currently using fossil fuel heating (natural gas, propane, or fuel oil) after switching to a cold-climate heat pump. Results are shown under both the standard “typical” electricity rate and an “electrification-friendly” rate. *For Pepco Maryland, the “electrification-friendly” rate reflects the existing residential seasonal rate, while the “typical” rate is a hypothetical flat rate that removes seasonal differentiation while recovering the same amount of revenue.
