Most State Revenue Comes from the Personal Income Tax, the Sales & Use Tax, and the Corporation Tax

Projected General Fund and Special Fund Revenue as of the 2026-27 Enacted State Budget = $328.4 Billion

This chart shows that California's state revenues (General Fund and special funds combined) as estimated for the 2026-27 fiscal year come primarily from the personal income tax (45.7 percent), the sales tax (15.8 percent), and the corporation tax (13.8 percent). The remaining roughly one-fourth of state General Fund and special fund revenue is projected to come from a broad range of of additional revenue sources, such as taxes, fees, and fines
