Presidents often take office with congressional majorities

The past six incoming presidencies have begun with party trifectas, in which one party has control over the presidency, as well as majorities in the House and the Senate.

House majorities include leaders in the five races remaining uncalled as of Nov. 18, 2024. They do not include resignations announced since Nov. 5, 2024, because of Cabinet nomination announcements or other reasons.
Senate majorities include the vice president, who as president of the Senate can vote in the case of ties.
