Felony Incarceration Differences by Defendant Race/Ethnicity - Black Defendants

This chart shows the percent of Black and White individuals receiving an incarceration sentence following conviction for a felony. Although the judge imposes the sentence, the prosecutor can offer sentence recommendations. This indicator helps determine whether incarceration is equally distributed across defendants.

Incarceration includes any jail sentence (with or without probation), community corrections, or prison. Cases grouped by most serious conviction charge and disposition date. Last name used to better identify Hispanic individuals.
