Fine Particulate Matter in U.S. Air

Overall, concentrations of very small particles in the air in the U.S. have gone down since 2000. The greatest decline is in readings in the "90th percentile," the 10 percent where numbers are the highest. At the local level, smoke from wildfires can interfere with this progress.
