COVID-19 Daily Antigen Tests (2021-2022)

Data from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services shows the number of antigen tests performed daily in 2021 and 2022 and how many of those tests were positive.

An antigen test, also called a rapid test, detects certain proteins of the COVID-19 virus, and positive tests are considered accurate, though there are increased chances of false-negative results.

Due to the winter storm that began in Texas on Feb. 14, 2021 reporting data for that week was inconsistent, leading to a sharp rise in numbers when reporting resumed Feb. 21, 2021. Similarly, reporting was not done between Dec. 31, 2021 and Jan. 2, 2022, leaving a backlog spike on Jan. 3, 2022.
