Ranking Pennsylvania's outdoor recreation economy (2024)

U.S. data released in March 2026 show that the total value added of the outdoor recreation economy accounted for 2.4% ($696.7 billion) of current-dollar gross domestic product (GDP) for the nation in 2024. At the state level, value added for outdoor recreation as a share of state GDP ranged from 6.1% in Hawaii to 1% in the District of Columbia.
