White families are far more likely to secure private school tuition payments for students with disabilities

Bars show the percentage of students with disabilities across NYC public schools, as well as those who were granted private tuition payments, where their race or ethnicity is known.

Roughly one-fifth of students with disabilities who won private school reimbursements did not have an ethnicity listed in the data release and are excluded from this chart. Demographics for all students with disabilities are taken from the most recent year only. The figures do not include students who attend "state approved" private schools who generally do not file legal complaints to have their tuition paid by the government.
