How the pandemic shook up IPS and charter enrollment patterns

Indianapolis Public Schools was steadily losing students even before the pandemic, while overall enrollment at independent charter schools grew. But the district's enrollment plunged sharply between 2019-20 and 2020-21, after the district switched to virtual learning when COVID hit. Figures show change in enrollment from previous year.

Data does not include Innovation Network charter schools, which are considered a part of IPS but counted separately in state records.
