More bills are passed when the governor and the Legislature are ruled by the same party. Vetoes abound when they're opposites.

Trifecta = Governor, House, Senate are led by same party. Opposites = Governor is the opposite party from who leads both chambers. Split Legislature = Neither party leads both chambers of the Legislature. Data is from 1953-2022 in Michigan.
