Spot rates minus fuel, January 2023-January 2024

DAT Freight & Analytics reported similar dynamics last week, with this look at average rates derived from transactions in the DAT load board network, minus an average fuel surcharge to show underlying linehaul. Access DAT's Trendlines website for more data, showing overall an 11% boost in loads posted last week as contract carriers rejected tendered loads and shippers turned to brokers to source moves. The number of loads on the DAT One network increased to 1.2 million in hard numbers, yet that's still 21% lower than the same week in 2023 and 31% lower than the same week in 2020.
