Economy becomes Houston's top concern

For the first time in four years, the local economy overtook crime as the most-cited "biggest problem" facing the region among participants in the Kinder Houston Area Survey.

Notes: Harris County residents participated in each Kinder Houston Area Survey, while Fort Bend and Montgomery County residents participated in the 2016, 2017, 2018, 2025 and 2026 surveys. The "cost of living" option was added to the survey results in 2022.
