Density of Valentine's Day-related businesses in each category for every 10,000 inhabitants in Germany's 25 largest cities

Grafik: For the 2026 Valentine's Day Index, Localyzer evaluated the offerings of 25,502 brick-and-mortar Valentine's Day-related shops in Germany's 25 most populous cities. This analysis is based on data from OpenStreetMap, an open-source mapping project that records businesses such as restaurants, jewellers, chemists, and cosmetics shops. The brick-and-mortar offerings were surveyed on 16 January 2026. All physical locations throughout the city were counted, with branches counted individually and temporarily closed businesses excluded. Digital demand was analysed based on Google search volume for Valentine's Day-related keywords, which were grouped thematically according to restaurant visits, jewellery, and gifts. The evaluation was carried out at city level and put into relation to the respective population.
