As of 2022, China produced more than two thirds of the total global rare earth mine production. In a distant second place was the United States, accounting for a 14.33 percent share of the global rare earths production that year. In terms of rare earths production volume, China's production quota for rare earths amounted to 210,000 metric tons of rare earth oxide equivalent that year.
