European Countries Have Largely Abandoned Wealth Taxes

Only three European countries currently impose broad-based wealth taxes, from a peak of 12.

Note: Iceland's wealth was suspended and reinstated multiple times, with final repeal in 2014. Norway, Spain, and Switzerland currently levy broad-based wealth taxes. Belgium, France, Italy, and the Netherlands levy wealth taxes on selected assets but not individual wealth per se, and Liechtenstein has a tax on notional yield.
