CO2 emissions skyrocket after Eden gas compressor station's air permit expired

The permit regulating air pollution for the Tennessee gas compressor station located just outside of Eden expired in late 2018. The facility, which is operated by Houston-based Kinder Morgan, helps keep gas running through pipelines that stretch across the nation. Carbon dioxide emissions from the facility greatly increased between 2020 and 2022. A Kinder Morgan spokesperson said the facility is still operating in compliance with its existing permit.
