Population Decline Continues for Philadelphia

Philadelphia lost over 33,000 residents in 2020 and 2022, according to new population estimates from the Census Bureau, returning the city's population to a level last seen in 2014. The city had seen 12 straight years of population growth starting in 2007.

Note: The one-year population change is not shown for the first year in each decade (such as 2020), because estimates are reset after the decennial census, and are not comparable to the previous year.
