Civilian casualties in Afghanistan: suicide and complex attacks
The UN in Afghanistan says more than one quarter of civilian casualties in 2017 came when anti-government groups deliberately targeted civilians — mainly in suicide attacks.
The UNAMA definition of a complex attack includes the following elements: two or more attackers, two or more types of weapons, and one of the weapons is an explosive device used in a suicide.
