College-Enrollment Rates Soon After High School

As the ratio of Iowa high-school graduates who qualified for free or reduced lunch increased from 37.5 percent in 2012 to more than 45 percent in 2019, the share who enrolled in college after graduation decreased 4.6 percentage points, from 51.4 to 46.8 percent. Enrollments by high-school grads who were not from low-income families held mostly steady, from 80 percent in 2012 to just under 79 percent seven years later. Hover over the chart to view the data.
