Minimum wage by state, 2025

In 2025, 20 states used the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour for most employees. The other 30 states (blue) had minimum wages above the federal minimum wage. States with darker shades have higher minimum wages. The region with the highest minimum wage was Washington, D.C. ($17.50 per hour with an increase announced in July), followed by the state of Washington ($16.66).
